HERMOSA, Bataan – Top executives of Japan-based Sumitomo Wiring Systems, (SWS) Ltd. and Bataan local officials recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Wire Cable Division of Sumi Philippines Wiring Systems Corporation (SPWS) inside the Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park in Barangay Palihan of this first class municipality. Tatsuya Ikeda of SWS Japan, SPWS President Takeshi Morikawa, Seigo Takashi, Managing Director & CEO of Kajima Overseas Asia and Takuro Suzuki led the groundbreaking rites.

SPWS mother company, Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., was founded in 1917 based in Yokkaichi, Japan, manufactures and sells wiring harnesses, harness components, and other electric wires for automobiles and office equipment in Japan and with subsidiaries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

Bataan Governor Albert Garcia, Hermosa coordinator and commercial pilot Jopet Inton, and first district congresswoman Herminia B. Roman graced the event.

The first SPWS plant facility in Hermosa started in 2011 which became operational in 2012 and presently employ more than three thousand workers. Recruitment for more workers in this Ecozone continues not just for SPWS but for a number of locators who recently pour their investments in.

Governor Garcia lauded the expansion of SPWS who emphasized that this new development will further boost the provincial government’s vision for Bataan to be the preferred eco-industrial investment site.

Jopet Inton, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to SPWS for giving its trust and confidence to Hermosa for hosting again the company’s upcoming wiring harness plant. Inton also acknowledged the big economic impact of the company not only for the people of Hermosa but the whole province as well.

He also mentioned that the municipal government headed by Hermosa Mayor Danilo Malana coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highway’s Road Board for the provision of an overpass in front of the Ecozone’s gateway as a traffic measure to ensure its workers’ road safety. The new plant is expected to be completed and operational next year.

Former Bases Conversion and Development Authority chairman and Hermosa Ecozone Director Felicito C. Payumo said the new plant of SPWS will employ an additional 2500 workers.
