Creation of inter-agency committee for Limay relocation plan urged

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member is proposing the creation of an inter-agency task force to undertake peaceful relocation of some 3,000 informal dwellers occupying the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) property in the two barangays of Lamao and Alangan, of this town.

Gerry Roxas, SP chair of Transport Committee explained the inter-agency working group will be tasked to designate certain areas to be developed into a conducive community as an appropriate relocation site either in the upland village of Batangas ll in Mariveles town or in Barangay Duale in Limay town.

Roxas said the problem of relocating informal dwellers must be immediately addressed with the influx of local and foreign investors who have shown great interest to build industrial firms in the government–owned estate.

He said the comprehensive evaluation of the relocation site is absolutely necessary taking into account the environment, infrastructure network, school, church and other facilities for the benefit of the residents with the rapid industrialization phase in the two villages of Limay.

Roxas added the inter-agency task force should take the necessary actions which would protect the lives, health and well-being of the residents amid progressive scheme which may affect the community.
