    Township project at FAB mulled

BALANGA CITY, Bataan –  Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia is seeking for a private partner in the formulation of a development plan  for a township project  in the periphery of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), one of the fastest growing freeports  and economic zones in the country.

The development of a township scheme at FAB, the country’s first export processing zone, is incorporated under the Public and Private Partnerships for the people and Investment program of Governor Garcia which is openly evaluating the meaningful opportunity and economic variable in the selection process of a partner that would provide commercial area, schools, market, church and other social and health services.

Governor Garcia expressed his optimism over the outcome of the new progressive business prospect practically in Mariveles, which is one of the two industrial communities  in Southern Bataan with rising influx  of skilled and professional workers in the locality coming from various regions in the country.

He reiterated the provincial plan highlighted the significance of healthy conditions and well-planned urban development in realizing inclusive growth in the historic peninsula.

According to Governor Garcia the government should ensure that for private sector to fulfill its function in the economic and social advancement of the people,   the local government should reciprocate by substituting as an enabler in creating a business environment conducive to growth.

Mariveles with population of about 130,000 with annual population growth rate of 3 % is host to the FAB with a current work force estimated at 40,000.

More than 30 multi-national corporations and industrial firms have reportedly forwarded their registration documents to invest at  FAB  and the newly- created San Miguel Corporation (SMC) special economic zone located in the coastal village of Biaan, Mariveles town.
